The Significance of Dreams in Psychic Development

Your dreams are more psychic than you know. And not just your nighttime dreams, but your daydreams as well. In order to notice your psychic ability, you have to pay attention to your wondering mind, and have an understanding of how the psychic mind works.

The psychic mind is not like your thinking mind at all. It\’s the mind of dreams, imagination, and memories. If it is to offer you anything literal, it does so rarely. It communicates instead, in a symbolic language that must be interpreted.

In order for us to step out of whatever conceptual box we are in we must expand our concept of reality and possibility. Perhaps dreams defy logic and the laws of physics to symbolize this mental stretching. Thank God there is no predictable formula to interpret them. Otherwise, life would be utterly predictable.

With our psychic minds we are free to imagine anything we wish. You might think of a psychic vision as a short daydream. These magical experiences can occur spontaneously, or as a result of an intention. The vision isn\’t psychic until you recognize it in your waking reality. To recognize something is to RE-cognize it, meaning to become aware of it for a second time.

The first step to having a psychic dream is to remember one. To that end, before going to sleep, consciously instruct your dreaming mind to present you with a psychic dream. Let that mind know you\’ll be looking for it in the morning.

Upon waking, don\’t move. Keep your body in the same position it was in when you woke up. Close your eyes and take your time remembering. If nothing comes to mind right away, wonder a bit.

The best way to see psychic impressions imbedded in your dreams is to dissemble the dream by breaking it up into its individual components. Say you dreamt your friend was an architect and he told you he was in search of real estate, a prewar Brownstone. Considering each of the elements separately, we have a friend, an architect, and a prewar brownstone.

Now think backwards. Where have you seen any of these things recently? Has anybody talked about them? Did you read an article on real estate? Did anyone mention vintage buildings? By actively engaging in trying to remember any single element from your dream, even if that element has a totally different context, you are going to be helping yourself to remember the psychic fragment of your dream in the future.

The reason people fail to recognize that their dreams are psychic is they judge them irrelevant. Dreams, no matter how bizarre, have elements that have an opportunity to play out in your waking reality. You watch television and films. You read books. People tell you stories. Fantasy exists all around you.

One of my psychic students, practicing a daydreaming exercise, imagined a quarter moon, some stars, and Snoopy. She didn\’t get it at the time. But later that evening she saw Rapper Snoop Dogg on the Conan O\’Brien Show. The set\’s backdrop featured a huge quarter moon. The stars weren\’t in the galactic sense. But they were in the scene in a Hollywood sense.

Your psychic mind wants to show you its clever and metaphorical nature. If you let it, it will surprise, entertain, and open you up to layers of knowledge you never knew you had.
